For the new "Quiet" version please see this product listing - Mainboard - Select Mini V1 & V2 - New "Quiet" Version
Compatible with:
- Monoprice MP Select Mini V1
- Malyan M200
- Prima Creator P120
An adapter for the hotend fan and for the Z-axis endstop will be included as will a cable for the display so that they will all connect to the mainboard without any problems.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- After placing your order please provide at least one stepper motor model number from either the X, Y, or the extruder. You may send this information via the contact us page or reply to your order confirmation email.
- Also if you can please take a picture of the display connector and the hotend fan connector. The pictures should be looking at the connectors from the side where the opening is. This matters because some V1 boards use a different size connector for those two headers. The proper wire sets will be provided for those that need it at no extra cost.
- If you order additional items with the mainboard please know that they will not be shipped until your mainboard is shipped. If you would like those items right away please order those items separately.
"QUIET" OPTION
This is hopefully a temporary description for the quiet option of the mainboard replacement for the Select Mini V1. This option is also available for the V2 and the "Pro"/V3.
A fan for cooling the mainboard is recommended but should not be required but is recommended if the room temperature is over 80°F. Each board is tested by running multiple prints without a cooling fan but it couldn't hurt to have one.
Here is a Google Photos album with videos and a couple pictures that show off the TMC stepper drivers. Some pictures show variable resistors which will not be on the mainboards because they are not needed but can be added for an additional cost if they are wanted.
Basically it will make the printer much quieter when printing. There fans will be the loudest part of the machine and then maybe a little bearing noise but that will vary from printer to printer.
I will not claim that swapping the stock A4988 stepper drivers with TMC2208 stepper drivers will make prints come out better or print faster. I will say that this upgrade will make the printer much quieter without loss of quality or speed. No firmware modifications are needed. No hardware changes have to be made by the user to accommodate the upgraded driver. As far as the user is concerned all is the same in regards to hooking up the board and printing with the same slicer settings as used before.
NOTE: The TMC2208 drivers are running in "legacy mode". The TMC2208 will interpolate received step signals to 256 microsteps. UART is not available in legacy mode.
